André Ruschkowski



  • Born in Berlin, Germany,
  • Professional training as a studio technician,
  • Received his Ph.D. in Musicology 1993 at the Humboldt-Universität Berlin.
  • He began his compositional studies in 1984 and has been Composer-in-Residence at several studios for electronic music (i.e. Berlin, Budapest, Paris, Vienna).
  • 1992 - 2006 he has lectured Electronic Music and Music of the 20th Century at the Music University Mozarteum Salzburg (Austria), the Technische Universität Berlin and the University of Cologne (Germany).
  • From 1995 to 2006 he was Professor of Electronic and Computer Music at the Music University Mozarteum Salzburg, where he directed the Electronic Music Studio of the Composition Department.
  • Since 2006 he is Professor of Sound Art at the Savannah College of Art and Design, Georgia (USA).
  • His book "Electronic sounds and musical discoverings" was published in 1998 by Reclam Stuttgart (in German language).
  • He has prizes and mentions from various competitions for electronic music, i.e. Italy, (International competition for electroacoustic music "Luigi Russolo"1989, Prize of the City Varese, 1990), France, (Bourges 1985, 1989, 2000 International Competition for Radio Art, Paris 1997), Germany, (1. Prize at the Composition Competition for Computer Music at Braunschweig, 1998), USA ("Sonic Circuits VI" by the American Composers Forum, 1998).
  • His works are recorded on CDs of "TonArt" Berlin, "La Muse en Circuit" Paris and "Sonic Circuits" Minneapolis / St. Paul (USA).
